How to Impress Visitors This Holiday Season
We’re closing in on the holidays and it’s about that time for your house guests to start rolling up to your driveway. Hopefully you’ve cleaned the house and made up the guest rooms, or those pull-out couches and air mattresses. But what can you do to make your home that much more inviting or special for the in-laws or those distant relatives you want to impress this holiday season?
Add some festive items to your guest room.
Sure, your house might already be decked out for the holidays, but what
about your guest room? Make your visitors feel extra special and
festive with a small tree or some fun holiday décor.
Leave out some milk and cookies.
Milk and cookies aren’t just for Santa anymore. Leave out some
Christmas Eve treats like cookies or coffee for the morning for your
honored guests so they’ll feel right at home come Christmas.
Write a personal note or leave a small gift.
Greet your guests to your home with a personal note or small gift left
in their guest room when they arrive. Let them know how happy you are
that they’re there to spend the holidays with you and your family. It
will make them feel at home even when they aren’t!
Set up a mini bar.
Just
like your favorite high end hotel, it’s all about the luxury of the
mini bar. Leave out some snacks local to Arizona if they’re from out of
state, and set out some whiskey or a nice bottle of wine and glasses for
them to privately unwind after a day of stressful holiday shopping or
cooking.
Make their stay a little more cozy.
While
we don’t get the crazy low temperatures like the Northern States, it’s
still nice to feel cozy during this wintery holiday. Leave out some
fuzzy slippers or hang up a soft robe in the closet to make your guests
more comfortable. If you want it to be a pajama party come Christmas
morning, leave out some fun holiday themed PJs in their size!
Provide the forgotten toiletries.
There’s
so much more to think about when you’re traveling for the holiday
season – Christmas presents, toys for the kids, and food you’ve cooked
for the party. It’s easy to forget a toothbrush, your shampoo, or a bar
of soap. Leave out a basket of simple toiletries for your guests in
their designated bathroom. It doesn’t even have to cost you much – use
some travel-sized toiletries you’ve collected from hotels during your
own travels!
When guests have decided to spend time with you and your family this holiday season, they are foregoing a holiday at their own home. The best way you can show your friends and family that you appreciate them coming to your place for the holiday is to make them feel at home as best you can. It’s the season of giving after all. Make sure everyone feels right at home with a little extra giving yourself!
