All Things Pet Friendly Arizona
If you’re anything like us then your four-legged loved ones are just as much a part of the family as your two-legged ones. When searching for a new home we often consider our dogs in our decision.
Is there a backyard for them to play? Is it fenced in so I can let them out without the leash? Are there dog parks around or doggie daycares nearby for when I’m out of town?
Since you already have Fido and Lucky on your mind during your home search, have you ever thought about considering your city or neighborhood based on the needs of your fur baby?
We’re here to break down dog friendly Arizona and what makes these cities perfect for your furry family members.
Scottsdale
Scottsdale is one of the most desirable areas of Arizona, but could it be equally as wonderful for your pawed children?
Spend an afternoon hiking on the Lost Dog Wash Trail in McDowell Sonoran Preserve. Don’t worry – as long as you keep your dog leashed, you shouldn’t be losing anyone. This walk through the beautiful natural desert wash should get you and your buddy’s blood flowing while enjoying some epic views!
If hiking isn’t really your style, you can enjoy a park atmosphere with the family dog at the Chaparral Off Leash Area
on Hayden Road. It’s a 3-acre park with plenty of shade and benches,
and a playground for the pup! If you have an older or particularly shy
pooch, no problem – this park has a designated “passive” dog section.
A dog’s gotta eat, right?! Well, so does their owner. Head on over to the Postino Winecafe on
Scottsdale Road for your favorite bottle of red, some classic Italian
food, and plenty of attention for your furry friend. If beer is more
your style, check out the O.H.S.O. patio in North Scottsdale for a pet-friendly patio.
We know you want the best for your pet, even when you’re out of town. Scottsdale doesn’t disappoint when it comes to pet accommodations either. Check your pooch into D Pet Hotel for a stay in one of their Uber Suites complete with a pawdicure, massage, and even home pick up in a Porsche.
Phoenix
Phoenix is our favorite spot for plenty of pet-friendly shops, restaurants, and hiking trails. This weekend you can take your dog for some pet/owner exercise on the Hidden Valley Trail in South Mountain Park. You’ll have no shortage of challenging climbs, amazing views and Arizona rock formations.
If you’re looking for something a bit shorter, try the 1-mile summit trail at Lookout Mountain Trail. It has similar desert views as Hidden Valley, but without the distance or crowds.
You’ll have no problem getting a drink or bite to eat after your hike with your favorite furry friend in Phoenix! Take a drive over to 32 Shea this Saturday for “Yappy Hour” or just a cup of coffee on their shaded patio with man’s best friend by your side.
For Mexican food with your pet, Old Pueblo Café and Pub will happily open their doors for the whole family. They even have karaoke on Saturdays for a good howl. If pasta and lasagna is more your style, Cucina Tagliani will welcome Fido on their dog-friendly patio.
Since Arizona is one of the most dog-friendly states in the country, there are plenty of other areas that will offer a great life for you and your pet! Enjoy spacious dog parks in Gilbert and Chandler. Or grab a brew and play some yard games at Pedal Haus Brewery in Tempe.
At Award Realty, our clients are family – and that includes all members of the crew, even the ones that stand on four legs.
